Graduation and Commencement Photography Details
We're ready to go, so what now?
What you get and what we need
First, let's see all the different photo products and what is required for each
- Portraits of each new graduate - This are posed, traditional pictures with a standard background, which involves a studio setup area with a backdrop and studio strobes. Setup requires a guaranteed number of students with pre-orders (varies with the type of shoot and number of students). A $15 sitting is required if pre-orders are waived. Setup area requires 15'x15' with access to electrical outlets, along with 1 hour for setup time.
- Photos of each graduate receiving their diploma or certificate - This is of each student receiving that diploma on stage. Photographer requires a direct line of sight with no interference from the audience. To maximize each photo, the school official granting the diploma or certificate should be instructed to pose and hold for each shot in the direction of the photographer. The school official is also responsible for instructing the student on the stage for the photo. In case of a bad image (blinking, etc.), school official and student must be willing to stage a makeup shot after the commencement ceremony.
- Photojournalism of the event - this is provided by default with any ceremony. Photos depend on time available, opportunities, and photographer discretion. Photographer is not obligated to take requested photos (to protect against unfair, excessive requests). Photos are available online for purchase.
- Group portraits - this is provided by default if the opportunity arrises. A large portrait is recommended during or before the ceremony to ensure full attendence. Small groups can also be taken in proximity to large group photo. Photos are available online for purchase.
What is required before the event
We require marketing access to ensure students are aware and ready for portraits, along with other preparations
- Print - Notification / Advertisement in any pre-graduation flyers or notices. Reasonable lead time is required before printing to ensure that we can give you the advertisement/announcement in a timely manner.
- Email - email lists are used for 3 reasons: to announce pre-orders before the event, to announce the online gallery after the images are uploaded after the event, and to offer discounts based on seasonal promotions. The latter is only sent out once, if at all (for a maximum of three email notifications).
- Contract - A basic contract is required to cover liability and delivery issues. The school is not required to deal with tranaction overhead with students.
